Admin Basics LLC · Salt Lake City, Utah

IT done properly,
for small teams.

I help small businesses set up, secure and maintain Microsoft 365 — the same work I do every day as an admin, and the same work I write about on this site. No sales team, no retainer you don’t need. Just someone who knows the tools and tells you what he’s doing.
Services

What I can take off your plate.

Each service links to notes where I’ve done the work — so you can see how I think before you hire me.
01

Microsoft 365 setup & cleanup

New tenant or inherited mess: licensing, domains, mail flow, users and groups set up in the right order — and documented.
02

Device management with Intune

Enrolment, compliance policies, configuration profiles and app deployment for Windows and mobile, rolled out in rings so nothing breaks at once.
03

Security & compliance baselines

Conditional Access, MFA, Defender, ASR rules and break-glass accounts — the controls insurers and auditors ask about, implemented without locking out your staff.
04

Automation & reporting

PowerShell and Graph API scripts for onboarding, offboarding, licence reports and the recurring chores nobody should do by hand.
05

Network sanity check

Firewall rules, Wi-Fi, VLANs and the small-office network basics that quietly cause big problems.
06

Ongoing admin support

A part-time admin who already knows your environment. Monthly, predictable, and honest about what you do and don’t need.
How it works

Small engagements, no surprises.

1

A short call

Thirty minutes to understand what you have, what’s hurting and what “done” looks like. Free.
2

A written plan

Scope, order of work, what could go wrong and a fixed price. You keep it either way.
3

The work, in rings

Changes are tested on a pilot group before everyone gets them. You get plain-English updates as we go.
4

Handover

Documentation, admin access, and the option of ongoing support — but no lock-in.
Good fit

Who this is for.

Businesses with roughly 5 to 100 staff on Microsoft 365 who don’t have a full-time IT person — or have one who’s stretched thin. Especially if you’ve been told you need to “get compliant” for cyber insurance, a client contract or a framework like CIS or NIST and aren’t sure where to start.

I work evenings and weekends around a full-time role, which means a small number of clients at a time and honest timelines. If it’s urgent and large, I’ll tell you and point you somewhere better.
Work with me

Need this done in your environment?

I help small businesses in the Salt Lake area (and remotely) set up Microsoft 365 properly, tighten security, and get compliant — the same things I write about here. Learning in public, applied to your tenant.
