Privacy policy.

Admin Basics (admin-basics.com) is run by Admin Basics LLC, based in Salt Lake City, Utah. This page explains what information the site collects, why, and what happens to it. The short version: I collect as little as I can, I don’t sell anything about you, and you can ask me to delete what I have.

What this site collects

Contact form. If you use the contact form, I receive the name, email address and message you enter. That’s used only to reply to you. Submissions are stored in the site’s database and emailed to me.

Newsletter. If you subscribe, I keep your email address so I can send you new notes. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.

Server logs. Like almost every website, the hosting provider (Hostinger) keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, pages requested, and timestamps — for security and troubleshooting. These are kept for a limited time and I don’t use them to identify individuals.

Analytics. I may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to see which notes people read and where visitors come from, in aggregate. If I add a tool that uses cookies or collects personal data, I’ll update this page to say which one and how to opt out.

Cookies

The site sets only the cookies it needs to work — for example, one that remembers you’ve logged in if you’re an administrator. It does not use advertising cookies. Embedded content from other sites (such as a video) may set its own cookies according to that site’s policy.

How your information is used

To reply to messages you send me, to send the newsletter you asked for, to keep the site secure and working, and to understand in general terms what content is useful. That’s it. I don’t sell, rent or trade personal information, and I don’t share it with anyone except the service providers needed to run the site (hosting, email delivery, form and newsletter tools), who are only allowed to use it to provide those services.

How long it’s kept

Contact form messages are kept until the conversation is finished and then deleted periodically. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Server logs are kept according to the hosting provider’s retention schedule.

Your choices

You can ask what information I hold about you, ask me to correct it, or ask me to delete it. Use the contact form and I’ll take care of it within a reasonable time. You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email.

Consulting clients

If you engage Admin Basics LLC for consulting work, the handling of your business data — including access to your Microsoft 365 tenant — is governed by the written agreement for that engagement, not by this page.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and I don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top will change with it. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
